Week 13: Workplace Relationships & Feedback

Feedback Skills Practice

Instructions

This activity helps you develop feedback skills. Work through each prompt thoughtfully, as these skills require practice to develop.

1Practice Prompt
Think of a situation where you need to give someone constructive feedback (real or hypothetical). Using the SBI model, write out what you would say. Include the specific Situation, observable Behavior, and Impact.

Focus on behavior you observed, not your interpretation of intent. Be specific about impact.

2Practice Prompt
Recall a time when you received difficult feedback. How did you react initially? Looking back, what was useful in the feedback? What might you do differently to receive such feedback more productively?

Be honest about your defensive reactions - we all have them. Focus on growth.

3Practice Prompt
Describe a workplace relationship challenge you've experienced (or anticipate experiencing). What communication dynamics were involved? What strategies from this week's reading might help?

Consider the type of relationship, power dynamics, and boundaries involved.

4Practice Prompt
Think about networking and building professional relationships. What communication strategies have worked well for you (or do you want to develop)? How might you apply concepts from this week to professional relationship building?

Consider both in-person and digital networking communication.
